Three major players from the Great War, a conflict in the Twelve's universe past that led to a superhuman society dedicated to peace instead of domination.

Magnus - Max Eisenhart, a mutant who believed that superhumans were greater to regular humans and created a fascist regime where many innocent people were slaughtered. He opposed Armageddon and both men not only devastated parts of the world, but killed each other in battle.

Armageddon - En Sabah Nur, a madman who believed that only the strong should survive, and culled ordinary humans and superhumans he deemed "weak" alike. He died in mortal combat with Magnus.

Doom - a masked individual who manipulated both Magnus and Armageddon for their own purpose. They were revealed to be Victoria Von Dume, a smart though powerless scientist who arranged for both men to die to avenge her now destroyed homeland of Latveria - and died in the process.
