"Yes, you get a great view up here!" Alice exclaims as she peers over the barrier at the dancefloor beginning to fill up down below. As ever, there are fewer men dancing than women but there enough to attract both Alice and Jacqui's attention, along with comments of a complimentary nature and some not quite so much.

"You can see which ones are going bald from this high up," Jacqui points out, gesturing towards one man on the dancefloor who, from this perspective, is obviously well into developing male pattern baldness.

Alice turns to Jacqui with a disapproving look on her face. "That's a sign he's got plenty of testosterone, Jacqui. Definitely not a turn-off for me!" she says and returns to watching the moving, gyrating people on the level below her.

Kate, meanwhile, is standing back and enjoying watching her two friends having a brilliant time. For her, tonight is not about picking up a man but having a great night with her two closest friends. If she does get lucky then she will let things happen and see how much fun can be had and, hopefully, any potential man she attracts will not be looking for anything more substantial than a one-night fling so that when Edwin returns to the UK things between them can resume and nothing about tonight will ever be mentioned again.

"Kate!" Alice calls over to her. "Come and take a look. There's some lovely fellas starting to come in now. I bet one of them will take your fancy!"

Kate shuffles her feet uneasily for a few seconds but starts to edge forward and eventually slots herself alongside Jacqui as all three look down and begin selecting and rejecting what is on offer.
