[In this picture, we go back almost two years to when Holly, Claire, et al, were only 11 and beginning their first year at St Tibb's High School, form 7W.]

For several months before starting at St Tibb's, Holly Hewson had been getting excited at the thought of using the school's swimming pool , which she had heard many good things about.

When the day finally arrives and she has her first scheduled swimming lesson, she emerges from the changing room to see the pool itself and she is overjoyed. Everything exceeds all of her expectations, and she cannot wait to get in the water and begin swimming.

Her joy is short-lived, however, when, admiring the facilities, she hears someone behind her shouting. "Oh my God! If that gets in the pool will there be any water left for us to swim in?"

Holly turns to see that Ella Winford-Ashe is pointing and laughing at Amanda Hetherington coming out of the changing room in her swimsuit. Almost everyone in 7W has already quickly become used to Amanda's size and most of the girls only see her as another member of the form, but the cruel streak that evidently runs through Ella prevents her from looking past Amanda's physical form.

There are several gasps in response to Ella's hurtful behaviour, and Amanda slinks as far away from Ella as she can. Anyone with the tiniest trace of empathy can see that Amanda is very uncomfortable and currently wishing she could flee back to the changing room and cover herself up again.

Holly is shocked and this adds to her growing opinion that Ella is someone she will probably never end up being friends with.
