"Cool party, Nards," Leigh-Anne greets Nadia outside Nadia's house the next morning.

"Yeah, I really enjoyed it," Nadia nods in agreement. Their earlier disagreement over her rather hasty and downright unfriendly behaviour had been, as most teenage spats go, forgotten almost as soon as they had parted, and when guests started to arrive later that evening at Nadia's birthday party, Leigh-Anne grabbed Nadia and gave her a big hug to wish her best friend a happy birthday with no trace of lingering resentment.

During the party, when both girls had gone to the toilets and found they were the only ones in there, Nadia did explain what happened when Teggsy showed up , how he had declined the invitation to her party---claiming he would be completely out of place at a party where he was the only boy and he knew only one of the other attendees---but had offered to meet her later in the week for a less formal occasion with less pressure on him, which made Leigh-Anne shriek with delight and insist that this meant he was definitely interested in her. Nadia shrugged this off and the party progressed without any more mention of Lee Tegwald.

So, next morning, Nadia is waiting outside her house for Leigh-Anne, the two of them having arranged to go into town and do some shopping. It is, of course, more an excuse to discuss the Teggsy situation thoroughly but first, before even leaving the Swinley property, there are random other things from the previous evening that have to be mentioned.

"Did you get a whiff of Stinky Steadman?" Leigh-Anne giggles. "She was smelling fresh as a daisy ! What the heck happened there, d'you think?"

"I dunno but yeah... I went into the toilets towards the end of the night and there she was just coming out," Nadia concurs. "I was expecting the whole place to be, like, full of her funk and I'd have to cross my legs, hold it in, and back out of there 'til it'd had a chance to settle before I could go in but... no! It was fine and none of the usual reek that follows her about. D'you think she's finally sorted herself out?"

"God, I hope!" Leigh-Anne laughs. "And that dress she was wearing? Talk 'bout risqué, mate! If you'd've invited some boys, she'd've been their centre of attention the whole night and no doubt. I mean, flashing her knickers much?"

"Talking of things that are different... what did you think of that American girl?" Nadia asks. "Well... Canadian, but what's the difference, eh? I can't tell them apart, but whatever! Anyway, yeah. Last minute invite , she was."

"Yeah? She was cool, though. Man, I loved her accent! Is she coming to Tibb's for a full year, then?" Leigh-Anne wonders.

Nadia nods to confirm this. "Yep. Staying over here for Year Ten. She's good friends with Nasira---that's the other girl she was with---and Nasira's in the same form as Claire Brompton , so... you know? I dunno how much Nasira and Claire hang together but I might see a bit of the Canadian that way, who knows? Outside of school, I mean."

"Cool!" Leigh-Anne says and goes silent for a second. "Anyway... let's get moving. We don't wanna be late and miss those delish fresh-out-the-oven cakes at the Fourways , do we?"

Nadia grins at her friend, stands up, and the two girls begin their journey into Mettleham town centre.
