In the meantime, while Joelle is undergoing her ordeal in the Issingham Street metro station's public toilets, her parents are starting to get anxious about why their daughter is not back from school yet."Where my baby-angel at, Tom? Where?" Sandra paces back and forth, worry and concern written deep on her face.
Joelle's step-father moves in front of his wife, halting her pacing, and puts a comforting hand on her arm. "She said she's staying back for Maths Club and is going to get the train back. Look, I'll call the metro info line and see if there's been a delay on the trains or one's been cancelled or whatever. I'll find out what's going on, don't worry. Now, sit yourself down and try not to get stressed... it's not good for our little chap in here." He places his hand lightly on Sandra's baby-bump and smiles reassuringly at her.
Sandra chews her bottom lip as she lowers herself onto the sofa. Once settled, she utters an earnest prayer that her eldest daughter soon comes home safe and unharmed.
