John! I'm a long time fan of yours and I've always seen you as a great artist, but this ilustration is just so insanely gorgeous that I can't even express it!
Well done, very well done!

like willphoenix said, this piece stands out among the others in your gallery. Β I went to your livestream videos to watch the process of this, but the videos jump from basic colors and lines in the first video to almost finished a the start of the next. why are you hiding your technique from the world

I will never share the magical render button... NEVEEEER!
All jokes aside, I literally redrew almost the whole illustration from scratch because I didn't like how it was turning out.
I Livestream when I have time and breathing time, with that said the're no way I'd livestream everything from the start to the finish when I have a deadline.
The "In-between" is just rendering, doing studies and looking at reference, so It's only natural that I'll livestream the beginning (exploring) and the end (everything is already set I only have to render a few things). If you check the final livestream of this image, I didn't do any different than rendering the horses metal bits and such, It's all just rendering all the time until it looks good and believable
I will do a tutorial/speed up video of an upcoming illustration doing exactly the same things I did on this image, which pretty much is sketch -> study -> apply studies-> use reference for intricate details/fixing weird looking shit.
Stay cool!

Β I suppose I'm more interested in layer organisation, keeping everything clean, allowing for more efficient editing. haven't figured out a set method for myself yet.Β Β a tutorial video sounds cool.Β thanks for taking the time to reply

I usually groups things, so the girl had its own folder group with all layers inside, the same goes for the horse, i use a lot of temporary layers, which means I do adjustments and when i'm done then I merge the layers together.
You're welcome.

Awesome workΒ man. I frickin love that face, it looks 3D!Β It feels almost different from your other pieces, more crisp somehow. You been experimenting with new techniques or something? Whatever it is I like it a lot. Nice one John.
