Dear Johnsonist,

I hate to be this open and personal on a comment but I think I should share this story with you, just in case anyone who sees this wonderful commission may have felt the same story, too in any way and at any time.


Earlier tonight, I made a twitter post to help myself and others in similar depressed situations: "Remember, whenever your love for a band has been assaulted, watch old video clips of them that really kept you in their music. It helps."

And one of my friends, who is a cool guy and I'll always consider him a friend, is one of the ones who has expressed hate for my favorite band (RHCP, obviously), and whenever any friend of mine openly hates my favorite music, movie, anything....it hurts, especially because your favorite things help define you, right?  It's like a punch in the identity.

Tonight, after I posted that tweet, he just went in and said "Still won't make me like RHCP", and as bad of a time as I was already having, that just made things worse  and it's just hurtful when your friend just...says that about your favorite band. And I wasn't even trying to change his mind, despite me seeing him express his hate before.  I was just simply trying to rebuild my love for the Peppers, and I thought this would be a good night to start.  But look what happened.  And what's even worse is that he may never realize how hurtful it is and how sensitive I am about my favorite things, especially RHCP.  

I've been looking right and left for people to talk to.  After a few failed calls, all I was able to talk to tonight was a local counselor on the phone, and that was only for about 20 minutes. That's it.  And then I just tried to sleep, while some videos about depression and suicide were running and filling up my bedroom with hope as I tried to fall asleep.  I failed.  I still wasn't settled down enough to fall asleep.

So I came back here to DeviantArt, just looking around, and then I saw the (1 Note) up in the corner.  I saw your note, I saw your link that brought me here....and you have no idea how happy I was to click here and find that you completed this amazing artwork, which turns out to be my saving grace for the night.  

Not only will I make this my phone cover right now, but I will look at it much as I can until I finally fall asleep.  So Johnsonist, not only did you complete an artwork for me, you gave me another reason to smile after such a hard night, and I will probably finally get to have some sleep.  I don't know if you ever wondered if your artwork can make such a difference, but no matter what...this one did.  Thank you. Wonderful job.  Star Spicer is just more than beautiful here and I will never thank you enough for this.  Cheers.
