Seems a bit chilly in the Nether.

Here's another Minecraft deviation for you. It seems like I'm able to come up with deviation ideas more easily when I'm at school. I got the idea to create this deviation while taking a test on "Dante's Inferno", which is a 14th-century epic poem by Dante Alighieri.

Basically, in the Ninth Circle of Hell, sinners are frozen in a lake of ice known as Cocytus, contrary to the popular image of Hell being a fiery place. Then I thought "What if the Nether were frozen?" This was the result.

So now, here's my usual reflection: I really like how this turned out, although I always feel like I could have done better. Oh well. As long as you guys like it, I know I did a good job. Any faves, comments, llamas, points, anything would be greatly appreciated. Please leave your honest opinion, as long as it's not rude. Because if it is, I'll simply remove it. If you really like this, please have a look at some of the other deviations in my gallery, and watch me if you want to see more work from me in the future. Again, it is highly appreciated.

The screenshots were taken in Minecraft 1.4.7. If you want to find this spot in the Nether, the seed is 2851111177439095492, and when you first spawn in the Overworld, build a portal right above the tree.

This was edited in GIMP 2.6.11 and I used a few mods and external applications to help me create this scene:

OptiFine [link] for increased render distance and a few other visual tweaks.
MineShot [link] to take the high-resolution screenshot. (ModLoader [link] required.)

I also used MCEdit [link] to transform all the lava into ice, creating a cool-looking frozen river. Other blocks were changed using just a quick texture pack I created.

I really should go to bed now, since there are a few minutes to midnight, and it's a school night.
