Overall, this is an impressive piece of work. What is most striking foremost, and undoubtedly with good reason, is the drastic nature of the drawing, those sharp, foreboding lines, coupled with subtlety of the coloured eye. Although that little bit of red is so tiny, almost an afterthought, I have no doubt that it is well calculated, and is certainly used to great effect.
Usage of line and shading is done to a very technical degree, a degree which is satisfying in and of itself. To use it so effectively on such a broad and detailed scale is indicative of your mastery or ability, for which you should be commended as well.
Detracting from the work, although not in any large measure, is the body of the beast, the lower half of the image. While it certainly took great skill to create, I question what does it really add? The emotion, the power of the character is all found within the monster's face, and in terms of artistic interest the rest of the image does pale in comparison. Put shortly, it seems to be a rather superfluous addition. Perhaps it is that the drawing lacks scale; if we could see the entire body, the sheer mass of the beast, maybe then it would be more effective.
But take the above as positively as possible, for any work of which the greatest critique is one as above, it is undoubtedly a skilled piece of art. I would encourage you to pursue this degree and style of work further, as I am genuinely impressed. Use of line, space, emotion, and colour approaches paragon here, as this is truly a complex piece. I anticipate further works.
Thanks,
Nathan

Thank you, Nathan! I really appreciate the critique. I decided to cut his body off at that point simply because of laziness. I was originally going to draw the whole body, but I decided that I could get better detail in a smaller area. I was afraid that if I tried taking on the entire body that the overall drawing would lose it's detail and lines because I would become too impatient to spend much time on it. I began to feel overwhelmed once I started getting into the other half of the body and decided to just cut it off and do what I felt I could handle. Thanks again for the critique.
I rarely ever finish the things I start, so this was a huge feat for me!

I hear you there for sure; in my writing I am often so ambitious that I realize I need to really hone in and focus on one thing to get it done. I'd be interested in seeing more stuff like this from you, for sure. I'll be certain to follow your work more closely.
