Thank you Mark. Coming from you, a comment like that is a real confidence builder. I realize I have more work to do to get closer to where I would like to be in my artwork, but apparently I am traveling on the right path.

Thank you for the lovely compliment, Sue. Actually, I think Grace was much prettier than my portrait of her. I will have to draw her again. Sometimes I have better luck with a second or third attempt, than I do the first time I draw a person's face.

You have enough talent that you should go at least semi-professional with your work. You are a great deal better at it than my mother was, and she made a living at it.

Many thanks Rick, for your vote of approval. I appreciate it. Thanks too, for your suggestion of breaking a Q tip (aka "cotton bud") in half and inserting one half into a lead holding pencil. I have some Staedtler lead holding pencils, but I never thought of using one that way. It sounds like an excellent idea. I am going to try it on my next portrait. Shading flesh has been a problem for me. This sounds like a good way to do it, rather than using a Q tip in the usual manner.
