Description
I saw a photo of Michael Fassbender in a recent TIME magazine and I had to try drawing it. The three quarter profile and the beard presented a real challenge to me. I still haven't mastered drawing men's beards (and a few other things), but I will keep working on them. Thank you Peter Hapak for the excellent photograph that was my inspiration.Related content

Since you added this one to your "favorites" collection, I have "edited" this drawing. Three years ago, when I first scanned this one, I did not know how to crop my drawings with my Epson scanner. Now I do! I have re-scanned this file so that it does not have a white margin at its top, as this one does. Apparently this modification did not automatically change all of the earlier files of this portrait that people have saved, as I had hoped it would. I thought by just "editing" the file (replacing it with the newly scanned file), this would take care of the problem, instead of deleting it before submitting the corrected file. It did not. My apologies for any inconvenience I may have caused.

Thank you for the compliment. Michael has an engaging grin which gets me....every time....but he was serious in the photograph that served as my reference.

Thank you for your comment. Yes, it was Michael Fassbender's three quarter profile that captured my interest, and challenged me to try to draw him.

It's such an intriguing angle to have takent he photo - and your drawing of it is wonderful! A little rough around the edges, yeah, but the eyes... oh the eyes!

for your vote of confidence. I wish that I shared that feeling about drawing beards, but I haven't reached that level yet. maybe this is because I prefer men's faces without hair on them. There are some exceptions to that, though.
