What losers…..They want to collect hearts, but in 358 days Marluxia said that before roxas and xion they’ve never been able to do so…….10 WASTED YEARS!!!! And every attempt to get the Keyblade failed in the end.

what i don't get is...when they cloned riku why couldn't they just have used him? he had a keyblade too, it was pretty clear about that. so why couldn't he have gotten the job done? but nooooooope they have to be stupid and he ends up turning into a good guy in the end (sorta...until axel gets to him and screws with his head. way to go axel)

That Replica was created with data on Riku at that specific time, and Riku didn't have a Keyblade when Vexen "studied" him. The main thing that went into him was info on Riku's dark power.
The Replica that DID manage to get one, No. i (or Xion, as we know her), was made with data collected on Sora's Keyblade by Xemnas (Remember KH1 Final Mix?). But, we know how that ended...

but then what was that sword that he wielded in the fight? i thought that sword was riku's dark keyblade *confused*
and yes i know about xion and how that ended up (never played final mix but i have played the days game). but i still think that the repliku could have been capable of getting a keyblade, if he didn't already have one, just like riku got one. i mean for cripes sake

Riku's "Soul Eater" is a weapon forged by the darkness of his heart. Such a weapon can easily be made into a Keyblade if one has the makings. I'd say Axel... well, Lea's chakrams are a similar kind of weapon.
The thing about Replicas is that they are not exact copies of the entire person. They are artificial Nobodies designed by collected data, and what they become depends entirely on what kind of info was used to make them. Vexen did not gather any "Keyblade" data from Riku, so the Replica getting one is unlikely. Maybe he could've made his own with time, but we'll never know now. Axel kinda screwed everyone over in that castle...
I just had a thought. That "artificial Nobody" thing I mentioned? Vexen himself was the one who realized just how close Replicas are to Nobodies. And as we both know, both Replicas undeniably grew a heart for themselves. So if Replicas can grow hearts... what does that say about actual Nobodies? *3D SPOILERS*

Well, with the plot twist in 3D, we now know the main goal of the organization wasn't really to gain use of the keyblade anyway. Though the whole ten years do seem really extraneous. xD

Yeah, and Xemnas, being the Nobody of a Keyblade Master, could have used one himself (according to KH logic and Nomura), but, troll that he is, decided not to in order to cover up his ID (as if lying to the entire Organization about the nature of Nobodies wasn't enough of a cover...and somehow the original eight aside from possibly Braig/Xigbar didn't recall getting stabbed by a Keyblade...)

What's sad on their part is plan "obtain the keyblade through the hero's nobody" might have worked if they didn't make the replica. (I think Xion is what caused him to ask so many questions lol)
