Pokedex:
Vehicket is bad at moving over rubble and rocks, so its henchmen Roadch offer a plain path to move on. Some people believe this pokemon to be related to Genesect.
Considering there are fossils of Roadch but not Vehicket, it is possible that Vehicket looked vastly different eons ago. Its forme changing ability is unique even among bug types.

One advantage of getting almost no comments is I don't have to deal with all the hate when I decide to do object based fakemon. And I love to do them. In fact, some time ago, I decided that if I ever made some characters to go along with a fakedex, the professor would research how pokemon influenced humanity throughout history - including snatching ideas for, say, cotton candy from pokemon like Swirlix.
Oh, btw. the idea for this one comes from an old pastebin fake list for Gen6 pokemon. There was a transforming aircraft pokemon in there and I loved the concept.

Hey man, not getting comments suck, but your work is awesome!

Thanks! At the beginning I measured the quality of my work on the number of comments(and in a way, I still think the works that get more comments are better received than others) but by now I upload purely for my own enjoyment.

These are cool designs, I always like how you can incorporate inanimate designs into biological concepts. I know what you mean about non-sugu work, it doesn't get as much attention... I can understand that it's nice to see official looking designs, but to me, a lot of people's work who do sugi style all look the same at least with individual styles, you retain a look of originality
that's why I never chose to sugi my own work.

That's actually one of the reasons why I gave up on learning Sugi style pretty fast. I sucked at it(I still don't understand how you do those super thin only slightly varying lines) and inturn I just stopped trying to do it because it felt like trying to fit in a way too small jacket anyway.
Despite that, I can't help loving the style(the colors, the shading, the clean artwork and the very steady lineart) and sometimes I just have to wonder how my fakemon would look like in Sugi style.

Yeah, I can relate to that... I mean, I love seeing works in different styles anyway and it's always a pleasure to see my designs specifically in another's style. I can appreciate how official sugi style does look, so I'm not degrading the people who do it at all - it takes a lot of skill and practise like any other style does! From my personal perspective - and it's just my opinion, of course - fakemon is a good chance to do something a little outside of the bracket when it comes to art and design (although keeping some basis in the traditions is always nice!)

Thank you!
Tbh, I think one of the main problems with that is that fakemon in non-sugimori style are not as well-liked as others. At least that's how it seems to me - and I kind of understand it, seeing as sugimori-style fakemon have a more legit feel to them.
That said, I enjoy using and polishing my own style. It's fun and it's not only limited to fakemons, since I'm doing other art as well(tough most of it isn't on dA)

Yeah that's exactly what I think too. I have done my first three in sugi style but now I am thinking about changing the style because I wanted to draw it like a painting with a background to show what my fakemon do in the wild and to give them more dynamic pose and show off gender differences in a new way. What do you think I should do because I think I will be putting in more work but it will garner less attention?

Well, trying out different styles doesn't mean you have to drop earlier ones. For a fakedex, I think it's best to keep all fakemons belonging into that dex in the same style, to avoid it looking weird or unprofessional when put together. Besides, your sugi style looks really good and it'd be a shame to drop that, imo.
What you definitely could do, is keeping the fakemon introductions in sugi-style(since you already started) but make additional artworks(maybe in a different folder) showing off what the fakemon you like look in the wild. Since those would stand for themselves, you could try out different things in those.
In the end, tough, I think it's best to focus on what you like, not necessarily what gets you the most views. And of course, put those works into many, many groups. Because for every style, there are people liking it, somewhere. You just have to find them.
