The alternative costume for the Phoenix of the X-men of Marvel Comics.I don't really know why this red suit exists (the same happens with Iron Fist) and I prefer the green one (both cases) but the artist didn't ask me which color I want me Phoenix.
I just wanted 80's style! Hell yeah!

I like the costume in the colors Dave Cockrum originally intended for her, white and gold, rather than green and gold. He was going for an Egyptian theme and it really works in white and gold. Unfortunately, he was overruled and they went with her Marvel Girl colors. Partly, that was because the way comics were printed back then, the white bits might have allowed art from the other side of the page to show through and partly because, as the editor at the time put it, "We print COLOR comics!"

The different color phoenix outfits actually represent different power levels and states of mind. Red outfit is actually Dark Phoenix where Jean goes all psychotic and selfish and . . . well . . tries to kill anyone that stops her.

Thanks for the info, I always try but never find time to read her saga! That is why in the games she is always wearing green. Now it makes sense.
