No it is not, tho i can see why you might think that since Black Onyx is walking the fine line between non-corruption and corruption.
I call the black Corrupted Gem "The Sentry", a Corrupt Gem who has patrolled the Field of the Fallen (a sort of Gem Graveyard, each of those crystals you see contain shards of a dead gem) and protected it from other corrupted gems that seem drawn to it like flies to a lightbulb, for thousands of years (probably since before she was corrupted).

Aaaaaah, this is AWESOME.
I just started designing corrupt gems, but I'm not very good at it.
The few monsters of my own I've designed aren't even close to what might prepare me for designing GOOD corrupt gems, and I generally keep to more humanoid sentient races so.....
Not a good background for getting a footing for this stuff. I can barely make gems that look like they could belong in the show, ha ha....

Just keep drawing what you want and you'll get good at it, regardles of what you think you can or cant draw. In the case of corrupted gems there are several ways you can come up with good design ideas. One method is to find an inspirational "theme" you want the corrupted gem to follow, like, "lava", "Predator", "Water", "insects", ect, and try to heavily implement that into your design. For example, the Centipeetle is quite obviously inspired by centipedes and beetles. So you can go find an animal, insect, fictional beast or some other species you find interesting and try mimic that, or you can try finding an element and form a monster around that element. Since they are gems, it helps to incorporate some gem cut shapes into the design, if we again look at Centipeetle we would see that while her gem is obviously her "eye", she has gem-like objects on her back, while other corrupted gems, like the "ice" one we see at the start of "monster buddies", seems almost fully crystalic in nature. You can also make them humanoid in nature, my tip there is to make them look deformed, strange, showing that they indeed have a humanoid body type but also showing quite clearly that humans or regular gems they are not. You can do this by for example adding extra or oversized limbs, making them asymetric (like i did with "the Sentry you see in this animation), odd and out of place.
Another thing you can do if you want challenge yourself and get out of your normal comfort zone, is to take your pen and draw a random shape with no thought behind it other than it has to be a shape consiting of a single line, the lines ends must be connected, and the line may not intersect its own path. You can draw several of these shapes, and can combine smooth corners and hard edges for plenty of random shapes. After that, use the random shape you just made and try to sketch it as a corrupted gem! Once you've made one you like, try to redraw it without a random shape, maybe tweak the design a bit, and then just keep drawing until you feel confident about your ability to draw it.
Practice makes perfect, and i wish you good luck on your quest to draw corrupted gems : )
