lol yeah. ive worked my way up the artist latter. i actually have some followers now it's kinda weird but nice. I see them more as friends than followers though... but some artists think their popularity is the only thing that matters and draw only things that will get their name out there. as for me i draw what's in my heart and what myfriends ask me to draw. that's it.

some people desire to make a artistic point of vieuw by showing a a sometimes temping nudity or something simular and experiment on colors and other stuff to make a cool work of art.
then there the bloody wankers and weird chicks using this site to post their webcam shots and doodle lines of wanking material.
and to all the photographers i may or may not have offended.

I dont (havent) posted much of anyting on this site, but Im always on here browsing. I sir am a photographer and am not in the slightest bit, offended by your remark. I agree, nudity is not the only form of photograghic medium. And it has gone from being creative (as Ive seen quite a few really nice nudes that were done for the sake of art and not a sick kick) to pure exploitation, with no regards to decency, artistic creativity, or any other purpose other than to "show off" or however you want to put it. Its apauling (spell check). I find an artisitc interest in the female form, but most of the artistic nudes are a thing of the past, unfortunetly. Now its all just one big sad slut fest. So you have my support on this issue, glad to see that others think like I do.

Meh, you cant trust that your words will always reach a cultured person. Sometimes the best way to get a point across is through a swift kick to the teeth. Point being: your expressing yourself in the proper manner....and at least the sub cultured gits who read your point will understand it. I blame the scum of the earth people who defile the personal mediums of art for making people like us angry enough to lose our composure. *sigh*...but wat can you do right? Lord forbid I post any photograghy of the nude female form. It'll most likely be trampled with a bunch of ammatuer smut and what not before it rests 30 seconds on the front page.

thing about art, it kinda lost its meaning for quite a while now.
why do you think DUCHAMP made the bloody fountain.
he took a urinoir and placed it in a musseum.
and sorta yelled at the gits saying: 'I DARE you to claim this is not art!'
cause something nowadays is considerd art if it has a name, signature, explanation and is on a display.
and the sole reason to that rule is because people are lacking the motivation to take up some CULTURE and learn what art truely is.

I know your comment is kind of old, but I just could not pass by it without saying how much it feels great to read this!
When Duchamp made fountain, it was actually a big criticism of the museal institute. The Dada mouvement were self-proclaimed "anti-artists", wich were made "artists" during the 60's by big shots theoricians.
Anti art was the basis of the current contemporary art art we have. This sucks balls, alot. Almost anything that is considered art made around 1940 and up is questionnable. Shit in a can? A guy masturbating in a gallery? Cutting yourself in public? Battling in mud? PUUUH-LEASE (And I can even name each artist that did those things. Yep!) It is so ridiculus. And I spent a year in university in Arts and that's exactly why I'm changing my program.
Good to see some other people my age thinks the same!

I guess it depends on the college, but basically, it was a waste of money. I see that many art institutions are the same on that level. I spent a whole year there and didn't even learn some new techniques. But what are the institutions for? Learn us how to be creative? I hardly need that.

Ah, tis refreshing to hear the truth spoken by another like minded well educated individual. This entire species is severely losing its sense of creativity. No one wants to put in the hard work and dedication anymore. Forgive the cliche, but blood sweat and tears are still a vital fundamental of art.I guess culture has met its end at the hands of mediocrity. Its sad really, Im only 18 and I know more than most of the self proclaimed "artists" of this time. Even I in my youth have put myself in potentially life threatening situations for the sake of a single gripping photo. Something true to life is rare to see.....and it makes me utterly sick.

when you look at it.
lifes a laugh and deaths the joke its true.
you'll see its all a show, keep em laughing as you go.
just remember that the last laugh is on you.
AND
ALWAYS look on the bright side of life.
*whistle*
seriously, i feel you.
i'm currently dooing my first year in bachelor animation.
before that i did a preparation year in ART class that was pretty wide on the perspection.
the classes would always encourage me to go abstract and DARE do what no one has ever done before.
so i did...and they hated it. showed me examples.
and basicly the only way to get points there was to copy others famous artists (preferable the ones they liked) their style.
so i made one last assignment and left that year.
wich was a paper saying i wanted to be an entertainer and not an artist.
so i could be original and make stuff people can enjoy.
and now i'm in my first year of animation.
with animators who teach me and say, art is a pretty dang weird thing today.
so just be you and be original and what you do.
and make sure you enjoy yourself, then others will it enjoy it too.
period.

All true. I had an art class in junior high, and the teacher would give us independent projects to do every week. And, like clockwork, every week she would critisize everyones work. She'd tell us one basic requirement, we'd do it and she'd always make us redo it with something SHE wanted. ALL of her art had a similar element to it. And she wanted us to put it in there. She wouldnt tell us to, oh no, she just silently expected it. So I rebelled naturally and did work that I wanted to do. I actually beat her in a city wide art competition later that year, so....
I am actually planning on going to college for graphic arts and design and computer programing, and eventually design video games. Im an entertainer, I love to make people laugh, and fill them with fear. Im writing short stories and character bios for future projects I plan on doing....but will that get noticed?...maybe. Will it last? probably not. What will overtake it? Some useless shit that some fool threw together in 30 min with a cam corder and some home made props. Or some random ammateur sex vid that some 13 year old slut made with her webcam. Art is dead, and when actual artists make actual art, its trampled underfoot and overlooked by people with no culture, no style, no artistic view or outlook, who sit around with their thumbs up their asses looking at porn till their eyes sink into the back of their heads, who have no possible idea of what the definition of art is. But THEY are the ones who dominate the reviews and give critiques. As a result, those people have slaughtered the meaning of art and changed it for everyone and utterly, killed any chances of true creativity being noticed. "Its too odd, too strange, too different, too uncommon, too personal to be art." Blasphemy. Makes me want to weep. So Ive decided to become an individual who doesnt think outside the box, but eliminates the box from the equation intirely. I go my own way,on a journey to achieve my own happiness in the hopes of making others happy along the way. And to all the people who dont like it, fine, dont expose yourself to my work, stay the fuck out of it. To those who dare to say something about it and request that I change it...I will violently splay them and turn THEM into a peice of art as an example to those who dare to change my life. Sorry, didnt mean to lose my composure there, lol. It just infuriates me...this world and its ignorance. Sometimes I wonder if God has lost faith in humans as I have.

ninjacharles In reply to nan0black [2009-06-24 20:35:43 +0000 UTC]
first of all art is not dead.
its just no longer recognized by the majority of this planet....wich in turns saddens me but what ever.
second off all, what ever you have planned on dooing.
DO IT (unless it involves harming others).
personally if just one person other then myself says 'hey i really like that thing you did or made' then i feel like i accomplish'd something as an entertainer.
will i be forgotten.
SURE i'll be forgotten, even by the people i putted a smile on their faces.
but hey once i'm dead i'll no longer care.
i can't cause i'll be dead.
what i do care about is the lil moments, moments that i can savor as somebody got happy or happier in a certain point in their lives.
and thats what an entertainer does.
Live unselflishly to brighten up the shit called life to other people.
As for the porn thing.
erotics CAN be art under certain criteria in my eyes.
but it shouldn't be right down porn.
finally your equation of removing the box as a whole.
I like that train of thought.
like i typed in the beggining of this long post.
do what you feel like dooing.
create what you feel like creating.
and for the love of whatever you hold sacred to you.
never EVER lose your creativity and unique-niss.
dissapearing in a mindless mass is a fate worse then death.
and beeing a artist helps you stay from that faith.
unless your some bloody fan artist making rule 34 pr0n with their favorite yaoi couples OR their favorite character with a fan character that looks EXACTLY like them cept for the fact they pushed it to near perfection from their vieuwpoint.
or worse......
zutarians

I agree with ALL of that. I have no intentions of changing my outlook and dreams, and I hope I can and will continue to please the masses that are expossed to my work. I know I already have, and like you, that gives me great satisfaction. A little bit of my spirit feels complete for every person whom I make happy. That, I believe,is my purpose in life. To revive this dim world as best I can. And yes, erotica is an art form. As long as it stays within its guidelines and principles. Im a fan of that art genre, Ive always been fascinated with the human form and its workings, and well, thats one pleasing way to look at it, Im not gonna lie. (Strictly females of course due to the fact that I am male. But I have introduced myself to both sides since I am devoted to the work, but that is beside the point.)But like you said, theres a difference between erotic ART and porn. And when done properly and proffesionaly, erotic art is a very intriguing art form. But that is the type of art that is most manipulated, exploited and butchered into the shit we see today. It, takes the beauty out of it, y'know? The human body is a gift from God, made by Him, to spread his word. It is His living temple. And theres nothing wrong with seeing it in its original intended and well....exposed form. IF DONE IN PROPER TASTE!!! I vow, on all that I am, to never lose myself, to never give into conformity or to change or lose my creativity or individuality.
And for all these sad, sad people...whose lives are so pitiful that they have to draw alternate versions of themselves having sex with fictional characters, CARTOON CHARACTERS....it....I dont even have words for it. Disgusting doesnt even come CLOSE. (sorry for going all religious on you there for a sec, lol)
π: 0 β©: 1
ninjacharles In reply to nan0black [2009-06-25 07:23:35 +0000 UTC]
hey its your complete right to go religious on me if you feel that it helps motivating your logic about this topic.
and while i do agree on you about the whole human body i don't do this from a religious point of vieuw. more of a nature-esc point of vieuw.
a mans body is dull and boring, too make stright lines, a womans body on the other hand is full of shapes and curves and volumes.
it is truely a sight to see when compared to a male body. wich i believe is there for a reason. *cough procreation cough*
now before you start vommitting about erotic art and cartoon characters.
over the years alot of cartoon characters both anime and not have been created and there are people who find certain characters atracted.
does this mean we wanna read their pron comics....hell no.
but imagine that like...our friend here jolly jack.
who draws erotic art (sometimes in the lines of furry characters)
would draw excisting cartoon characters the way he draws his original characters.
wouldn't he just have risin those characters to the lvl of erotic art just to see what it would be like?
not defending lonesome bastards who want to bang cartoon characters.
just defending the bastards who want to see what it is like if they were drawn in a erotic or pinup style. (for the sake of art instead of the sake of a good wanking session)

Yea, I see your point. I didnt mean to make it sound like I had a problem with erotic art of cartoon characters, in fact, I enjoy it. I even find humor in some of it. (ex:Jolly Jack) Its just the artists drawing themselves WITH those characters that irks me to the core. And yes I agree, for the reasons you described, I also find the female body much more fun to draw. And its a challenge in comparison to the male body which is basically a bunch of squares. But sadly, that too has given me a black label. I get punched with the pervert stamp simply on the fact that I draw women more than men. They can be fully decked out in thick winter clothing, but the first thing I hear is, "What are you, a perv? Why do you only draw women?" So Id draw girls in an increasingly suggestive manner just to piss off the critics. The more I drew them, the worse I drew it. I mean, I wouldnt want to dissapoint them since they went out of their way to give that stunning comment and critique, lol. But I digress. Simply put, I like erotic art, but not when its some fan made sex comic.

I do normally tell them off, but Im honest about it. I tell them its more fun because its a challenge and it helps me improve my skills, besides, its nice to look at. Anyway Im not lying when I tell them that. And honestly, Id rather them call me a perv for drawing women than them call me gay for drawing men. (Especially if I drew them the way I draw my women....*shudder*, *vomit*) Im decent in my drawing skills, but Im mostly a story/ poem writer. Its obvious that Im a better writer than an animator.
