Ajwe0ruij [2014-01-19 20:54:28 +0000 UTC]

Well, that's part of it.

The other part, if I am not mistaken, is random mutations that, if non-detrimental, get passed on to new generations.

Outbreak-II In reply to Ajwe0ruij [2014-02-07 00:45:57 +0000 UTC]

Like the next person being immune to killer bee stings? Ooh, or better yet, getting bee powers from being stung! That would be awesome.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ajwe0ruij In reply to Outbreak-II [2014-02-07 09:08:26 +0000 UTC]

Actually, the last, and most important part, is that the traits are handed down to the next generation through procreation.

Eventually, you'd get people who have bee powers or resistance to bees, PROVIDED not all of them die and none of them have WOW subscriptions.

Devils-Night In reply to ??? [2014-01-19 14:38:40 +0000 UTC]

What is darwinism exactly, and why is the explanation of it equated with opening a box of angry bees?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

PrimroseEvergreen In reply to Devils-Night [2014-01-19 15:00:23 +0000 UTC]

willingly doing something that could kill youΒ

it's all about survival of the 'fittest', in this case common sense

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

TheYoungExorcist In reply to Devils-Night [2014-01-19 14:58:50 +0000 UTC]

Ever heard the term "survival of the fittest?" Its basically those whoΒ have the best traits suited to their environment will outlast those who don't. For instance if a polar bear and a gazelle were placed in the artic, the polar bear would outlive the gazelle since it better suited to survive there. Or if two men were have a box of angry killer bees placed it front of them, the one who isn't dumb enough to open the box will outlive the one who is

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Devils-Night In reply to TheYoungExorcist [2014-01-19 15:14:19 +0000 UTC]

I mean, I know what evolution is. And although darwin popularized and greatly expanded on it then it wasn't him that came up with the idea. I know about natural selection and how far we've gotten today since darwin. But where does Darwinism come in, what does it mean?

Is darwinism just and only about the concept of survival of the fittest?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

TheYoungExorcist In reply to Devils-Night [2014-01-20 01:42:53 +0000 UTC]

I believe Darwinism is evolution by means of survival of the fittest

emmie-the-owL In reply to Devils-Night [2014-01-19 20:48:59 +0000 UTC]

I thought it was more referring to the Darwin Awards, which are "awards" posthumously given to people who manage to get themselves killed doing moronic things.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Devils-Night In reply to emmie-the-owL [2014-01-19 22:55:44 +0000 UTC]

I think the darwin awards are distinct from darwinism. Darwinism is a term creationists throw around loosely i've seen. Not sure why.

Well, they are angry killer bees, so they could probably say some nasty things to hurt his feelings, which would result in a heightened awareness of self and he could start second guessing his every thought and action, which could lead to deepening depression and he might eventually kill himself.
