Description Yaaaay. Rockstar made a fun game!
After the utter shite that was GTA4, I thought they'd forgotten that games were meant to entartain rather than frustrate.

I think you mean "last THROES of the game."

Unless the game involves throwing things at the end.

I quite liked him, myself. Very traditional western feel from him, like Kevin Costner in Open Range, really - A man who's done bad things pulled back into something he doesn't like doing.

ComicPOP In reply to Mister-Statham [2010-06-02 23:48:42 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I don't deny he's kind of a hodgepodge of different Western heroes. I just find he's easily duped more often than I was expecting.

Mister-Statham In reply to ComicPOP [2010-06-03 13:02:27 +0000 UTC]

I think that's part of the charm of some western heroes, though; That they are quite falliable and fickle, and Rockstar were clearly playing with that.

9. Wonder why the dev team didn't give you the ability to hitch your horse to one of the hundreds of trees/bushes while outside town.
I killed 3 horses because the dumbasses kept following me around and walking into gunfire. One even came up behind me and bumped into me, ruining my first shot of a bounty raid.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the Gollum/Smeagol knockoff.
Or the horrible weapon selection function.

"Get a sense that a large chapter of the narrative was cut from the project due to a lack of time or money."

Don't you mean due to a want of more money?

Also guessing I'm the only person with a game console - that's not a Wii - who isn't playing this game?

I still don't quite get the one-foot-drop no-no, though.

Do they think you'll die from one foot jumps? I jump three feet, NATURALLY.

3dpenguin In reply to JHaley959 [2010-06-03 02:45:06 +0000 UTC]

The damned horse refuses to jump off even the smallest jumps if you don't get it running first and tell it to jump just before you get to the edge. I've found this to be useful on some very high jumps too, you run parallel to the edge and jump off at an ever so slight angle, then you just slide down the cliff face... talk about real physics.

tabbat8 In reply to 3dpenguin [2010-06-06 20:14:30 +0000 UTC]

actually, as someone who's ridden horses.. sometimes the bastards won't even go through a puddle or pothole, never mind a tiny drop. they need a firm hand , a confident rider , and no frikkin choice, or they'll freeze up. so maybe they did do some animal research. well trained ones don't have those problems, but "non-working" horses are cowardly as hell!

hippie-dude In reply to 3dpenguin [2010-06-04 01:39:50 +0000 UTC]

But then, when it comes down to slowing at the lake's entrance, your horse doesn't know what "Slow Down" means and plunges into the apparently, very very deep lake. And since when do cowboys not know how to swim? You'd think since he was raised in a gang, he would be taught things like that.

JHaley959 In reply to 3dpenguin [2010-06-03 04:48:44 +0000 UTC]

True, but real physics don't make up for the fact that, at a full sprint, my horse suddenly screeches to a halt, bucks my cowboy ass off into the dirt, then gingerly steps over the small bump in the road a couple inches taller than what it's used to.

It's like Shadow of the Collosus, really: Make it to a cliff, horse stops, you go flying down the cliff side, screaming "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-" until you hit the bottom.

I was being sarcastic about the real physics there, if it was real physics that 40ft cliff face slide would stop the same way a 40ft drop would end, seriously injured.
