Description Yaaaay. Rockstar made a fun game!
After the utter shite that was GTA4, I thought they'd forgotten that games were meant to entartain rather than frustrate.

I'm not really the biggest western fan, but I thought this game was fantastic. One of the best games Rockstar has made in years, certainly of this generation.

Yay Jack! Glad to meet somebody else who shares my opinion of gta4, and your how to guides have proved invaluable in helping me judge which games to buy.
Did you play Saint's Row 2?

ALSO! I heard you're moving up in the world. A little bird told me you might've signed with one of the big two for an ongoing feature Little Victory.

GTA4 was fun, if you count out the going to the bar/pool/dart thing. What exactly didn't you like about it, or think could have been better?

I had plenty of fun with darts. Bowling was just bad though.

I had a lot of fun with GTA4, though. I found it thoroughly enjoyable.

I absolutely agree with you, except for the weapon selection and endgame parts. But each to their own. Your point still stands, RDR is an amazingly entertaining game. I too was left unimpressed by GTA IV, but Rockstar has proven that they have not forgotten what makes a game entertaining.

Great game with a new taste but with a cut-short ending.

nope all side things are just for you, heck there is no social mechanic what so ever, the only purpose of story NPC is just that, advancing the story, so no Mexican Niko calling you every 5 minutes going "ey Gringo lets go do X"

I want to play this game so bad... but I'm a REAL GAMER and therefore only play PC games. Sometimes being an elitist snob makes me sad... but most of the time I'm too stuck up to notice.

Also, upgrading my PC costs so much I can't afford a 360.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

GHudston In reply to BrentOGara [2010-06-04 01:01:01 +0000 UTC]

"Real gamers" play everything.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BrentOGara In reply to GHudston [2010-06-04 04:47:43 +0000 UTC]

calm rationality will get you nowhere... you need venom and vitriol and vindictive viciousness... perhaps some other words that begin with V... AND YOU NEED CAPSLOCK TOO.

It's just sad that there are so few PC fanboys... I think it's because PC gamers spend so little time actually playing games, and so much time trying to figure out why the game won't run... it makes mindless sheep enthusiasm a little harder to maintain.

On the other hand, my PC didn't have to spend a half hour loading the next level chunk every time I entered or exited a building in Fallout 3... it makes playing the 360 version more of a constantly interrupted nap rather than a game.

But if you want to talk about "Real gamers"... I had a lot of fun with 5 friends and "House on Haunted Hill" a few nights ago, and I just got home from a D&D 3.5 session, so in the end, metal figures and plastic dice beat silicon chips and flat screens HANDS DOWN.

GHudston In reply to BrentOGara [2010-06-04 14:33:35 +0000 UTC]

It's ok, not choosing sides means that I can have a bitter argument with anyone and at any time!

And on the subject of miniatures and dice. I'd agree with you 120% on that, it's just a shame that I can only find people who would agree with us on the internet. Pen and Paper RPGs are somewhat difficult to play without a group, and I have a shelf of unused rule books to prove it!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BrentOGara In reply to GHudston [2010-06-05 05:37:36 +0000 UTC]

Clever, maximizing your internet argument potential like that.

So true, I've only played "real" (more than 1 session) pen and paper games a few times. We ran Robotech and Rifts for 3 years in HS, but only met about once a month. We ran a custom D&D 3.0 setting in college, meeting weekly for 6-8 hours a session (once for 18 hours straight on a holiday weekend)- Awesome Fun Times. And right now I'm meeting with friends almost weekly for 3-5 hour sessions of D&D 3.5 with Pathfinder monster stats in a truly hardcore ROLE playing campaign 's husband is running in Faerun. Hopefully once this campaign ends in a few months we'll go full Pathfinder for an Epic Campaign.

I'm planning to run a Dark Heresy game for the benefit of my more war game oriented mates in a couple of weeks, but that's about as far as I can get right now!

GMing is really quite difficult when you've only done it once before, have never actually been a player in a game and have to run the game for people who haven't even read the rule book let alone played an RPG before. It can get a bit tense!

Also, we have significantly derailed the topic of these comments at this point. Oops?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BrentOGara In reply to GHudston [2010-06-07 07:25:39 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, GMing a game you've never played for players who've no idea what the rules are??? You are a brave man.

And yeah, we totally derailed the topic-train... luckily, most of the passengers here are in different trains, so we've only ourselves to blame.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GHudston In reply to BrentOGara [2010-06-07 21:32:13 +0000 UTC]

I have to be brave. If I didn't do it then I'd never get to play these games.

I'll play them if I have to drag my friends kicking and screaming the whole way. XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BrentOGara In reply to GHudston [2010-06-08 07:25:54 +0000 UTC]

Watch out for the kicking, if they manage to connect, it can hurt. The screaming though... that's just music to a DM's ears.

Constantly having to upgrade is one of the reasons I gave up on PC gaming.
The other reason is that now everything has to be registered online before you can play, and I don't want to hook my expensive PC up to the festering, virus-ridden hole that is the internet.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BrentOGara In reply to jollyjack [2010-06-03 01:55:02 +0000 UTC]

The upgrades can be painful, but I'm just masochist enough to enjoy it.

The festering virus-ridden hole is my only playground, so i pull on my MOPP gear and watch where I step. dA here being my first and last stops of the day.

Psychorror In reply to ??? [2010-06-02 21:25:35 +0000 UTC]

Really fun game, but glitches abound. It still amuses me when my horse randomly changes.

And- yeah. The weapon selection takes getting used to. My biggest peeve is that the Lasso is shellacked in there as well. 'Sides from that, it ain't too bad.

But- as a great many games are wont to do- the main character is just utterly and horribly generic. Why can't we get a well-designed and interesting protagonist sometime?

Also, I did #6 so many times. :c I found a BALD EAGLE, forgot I had the Bolt-Action Rifle equipped, it exploded into nothing. Damn.

I want a sequel. :C The ending was just depressing.
