I need to catch up but the series lost something when they revived it in 2009.
I think it was missing the 'daft science' element, where they could make up the most silly creatures/scenarios with little explanation. No mutant flu causing it to rain fish indoors or white holes causing the crew to repeat lines in a loop.

Vacuum isn't actually cold, it's an absence of atmosphere with no filter to retain heat, yet at the same time, no protection from the radiation and heat of starlight. Those spacesuits actually get unbearably hot because the insulation of the suit sends the wearer's body heat back so much it turns into a mobile sauna. So really, it's not cold outside, it's just the lack of atmosphere.

This show was always one of my go to shows when down in the dumps or just needing an escape. Β Originally aired in my area on the local PBS channel. Β For many years I had the first few seasons taped on grainy horrible sounding VHS with fundraising telethon sessions inbetween episodes. Β I must have just about worn those tapes out by the time they finally released on DVD. Β Good memories sparked by your artwork, thanks jollyjack. Β Think I'll pop in season 1 and give it a play.
