Iβm always wary when I hear of people in power targeting specific groups with irrational and/or hysteria-fuelled justification. As a history nut I can say it has never ended well. Ever.
Also, the more this has escalated, the more I have felt that Vladimir Putin (topless cross-country jockey and current Russian President) doth protest too muchβ¦.

I like what Putin did for Russia, but this stuff with homophobic crap from him is just silly. I have no idea why are Russians so much against LGBT population. As a president, he should be more open minded.

That is understandable. In general, people care about resolving their own problems (salary, living conditions, health etc) rather than somebody else's (LGBT population) problems. Putin is so far doing a great job of putting Russia back in big league but this stuff with homophobia is, frankly, embarrassing. I expected him to be much more tolerant.

What I'm trying to say is that in many countries there is a specific understanding of that problem. In our country homosexualism is not restricted. There is no penalty for being one. But there is a law that prohibit the propaganda of homosexualism among children. And that is right, as I think, because children with their fragile minds are very sensitive to such information. I'm speaking not about LGBT right now, but about sexual propaganda in general. And in our culture and traditions it's not common to tell people about your sexuality and with whom you get laid. It's a private life and private thing. So we don't really hate gays or something. I personally have a couple of friends who are gays, and they are fine lads but they don't support the methods of Russian LGBT movement. Because it provokes a conflict between regular people who are homosexual and the rest of the society and therefore there is quite unsympathetic image of homosexuals among Russian society. So it's just like that. I hope now you understand our point of view.

thus is another reason i don't dive into politics. they think they're so smart because their the "leaders" of the countries....they're just as dumb as they were in high school folks. (or the equivalent of.) a jock will always be a jock and the pure breed idiot will always be a pure breed idiot. how these people get up there? i will never know. (actually i do know but don't really want to go into that.)
human beings are some of the dumbest creatures on the planet, as well as being the smartest. it just depends on the individual under the microscope.
