you do understand that Charlie Hebdo is a paper not a person. . .

You realize people had to write down on that paper, don't you?

You also realize that it was a fairly diverse group of people.

What is your point? I'm not saying that Charlie Hedbo isn't composed of a fairly diverse group of people or whatever, what I'm saying is that the journal as a whole does not deserve any kind of support because they are partially guilty for what happened because they were willing to publish highly offensive and islamophobic satirical material. Telling the obvious isn't going to change that.

Or perhaps you have grown up in a society where speaking out or stating ones opinion is not just shunned upon but dangerous.

BackScratchCat In reply to KrilltheKill [2015-01-13 23:55:48 +0000 UTC]

So your saying they deserved to die because of their freedom of speech? You should also realize that there are Muslims who have been fighting for freedom of speech have been killed for less than this. You do realize that you can't make everyone happy, and that someone will always be offended regardless of how anti confrontational you are. You do realize that everything we have were gained though such things. But I don't know about you, for all I know you may not have such freedoms. . . Or you are taking them for granted, or perhaps you are just too comfortable sitting at your computer espousing your opinions without any fear in the world. But then again what you are saying will offend someone.

KrilltheKill In reply to BackScratchCat [2015-01-14 17:37:44 +0000 UTC]

I didn't say they deserved to die, they didn't, it was a tragedy nevertheless. But freedom of speech comes with RESPONSIBILITY. And if you don't have the fucking responsibility of, you know, not trying to gravely offend, stereotype and ridicule an entire religion/ethnic. I know it was not fair that people died, we shouldn't cheer over their deaths, their families are suffering and I know they shouldn't, the shooters are still responsible for the shooting, because they fucking shot the guns, I'm not siding with them either. I'm just saying that we should stop saying stuff like "Je suis Charlie Hedbo" and start acknowledging the victims instead, the direct victims, the cartoonists as people, their families and the suffering they're going through. There's no good side on this.
If you understood it wrongly, than I'm sorry for my bad communication.

sorry for interfere in the conversation, but i couldn't resist myself from opinate of this, I must say that i understand completely what KrilltheKill, has said, and must say that i agreed whit him/her 100%, he/she wasn't saying that those people deserve to die, what he/she is trying to say (and forgive my arrogance, if i'm gulty of that, to try to explain what you have said, in my opinion, clearly, KrilltheKill)is that, what we say, what we do, what we draw, has a weight, has an effect on people, you can't go on life insulting everyone you see, without expecting from someone a punch or two, free speach is not meant for this, what the media call free speach is just licentiousness of speech, everyone can say whatever they want, whenever they want no matter who they hurt in the process, we have to take responsability for what we say, do or draw, think before talk, otherwise you're letting your tongue thinks for you, and the trouble is that the tongue has no brain, you are accusing KrilltheKill from having the courage to speak like this, just because he/she does it from the comfort of his/her home, aren't you doing the same?, or are you sitting on a bed of nails? we are all sitting comfortably reviewing this, and that does not mean that what he/she says is not true, In short, think before you speak or act, and you will avoid major inconvenience; thanks for reading ^_^

That is your personal opinion of what free speech is. . . By telling me that they are not practicing free speech completely contradicts everything you have just said. . . . and honestly I can hardly understand what you are even saying, try putting in a few periods so it's not a run on sentence.

because that's what they call manners. -.- charlie hadn't any... i was mocked my whole time at school and god knows, i would have loved to get them alone in the dark. difference is, i was young, a child, i did not know any better. these islamists were adult and should have a better understanding of how to react to such a treatment. but the way charlie acted was asocial in a way non the less.

my condolence goes to the victims and they're relatives for sure, but i'm certanly not charlie.

Charlie Hebdo is a satirical paper, that mocks the social ills and problems of social groups. I am a gay furry Roman Catholic American Democrat, that's 5 things that can be satire'd would I be offended, no not really because I know it's satire. If I wanted to challenge someone I would give a rebuttal that is intelligent and cogent. They, and lets not confuse the paper and people, where pointing out social ills in society, not just one but all groups. the Hypocrisy of the Catholic church, the offensive lunacy of politicians pandering to small xenophobic groups, nationalism, archaic ideology. They satire the racists and the hate mongers, I have seen enough and read enough of both sides to know what they where doing and trying to do. I get called Liberal by those who don't f'ing know what that even means, people try to pray me away, as a Catholic, other christian groups want me to convert else I'll go to hell, as a Christian, other monotheistic groups want me to convert else I'll go to hell. As a gay I'm already going to hell by the standards of many religions. As a furry I am subject to trolls who get their jollies from others who don't know how to ignore. As an American I am already demonized. As a Democrat I am seen by far right wing groups here as socialist liberal communist dog who's anti American and a gay to boot.

But as an intelligent human who understands and can reason I am not in the least bit offended by satire, even directed towards my particular social group, whether it's true or not.

Charlie Hebdo publication wanted people to think, to take an introspective look at themselves, and mostly to bring to light the social plights of humanity as a whole. They are not racist, because lets be honest and take out any convoluted musings, the only race here is the human race. They are not Islamaphobes because they target all religions fairly. They are not sexist. They are not homophobic. They are human, who have chosen to expose human failings, it is no different then the satire of 100 years ago.

Uh, we got invaded and humiliated by the Germans (nazis of course) and then Muricans started to call us cowards and pussies because of this idiot Pétain who surrendered to the Nazis.
But please, remind me what happened to the last ones who tried to fuck with us, I really don't remember ^^

The French lost so many men in WW1 is why they gave in so easily in ww2. However the French were a rather strong army in many conflicts before that in the EU area.

Funny, your joke made me remind of one thing.
Down here in South América, there's no bigger rivality than the one between Brazil and Argentine. At some point, it is said, the military dictators that ruled both countries in the 70's did consider a nuclear warfare escalation in other to show 'to the other side' who was better and braver and all that (and it seems that if their plans had become public they would have had public support!)...
Fortunately no side managed to get it started properly, then came the 80's and democracy was back in both countries and the new presidentes decided to 'defuse' the animosity to more acceptable levels.
We make jokes of the Argentinians and they make jokes of us, sometimes the jokes are funny and sometimes they're not, but the level IS more torelable now...

Pour tous mes amis français(le), vous tous sont plus importantes que ces vers ne peuvent jamais être rêve!
PS: Voltaire RULES!

I think the Germans and the Spanish will argue with the British claim "No one kills them but us!" though given their history, I think the French will say, "We'd rather have the British kill us, than the Germans. At least the British will GO HOME after they're done."

In fact, we Spanish don't really care. If they kill each other it'll be perfectly convenient. Now, those yihadists? I myself want to beat them to a pulp for insulting muslims.

While it sounds odd, I'm a firm believer that you must try everything twice.
