Description The Martians (or "Yip yips") from Sesame Street: among the most terrifying creatures from my childhood - [link]

It doesn't matter how you look at it; any creature that can pull its bottom lip completely over its head is monumentally f**ked up.

My husband mimics these things all the time to annoy me. Soon we'll be having a son, and then I have no doubt that there will be TWO OF THEM.

How could anyone be scared of a muppet?

barghest4 In reply to ensignpulverize [2012-04-26 11:23:14 +0000 UTC]

It's possible, if you count any puppet made by the Jim Henson team as a Muppet - which include the Skeksis and Garthim in The Dark Crystal, for example.

But fuzzy felt things? Nah. They're just awesome.

Seconding some of the other opinions here, this is definitely on par with the Bananas, Equally as creepy here as they were in television.

I think you went and took the freakiness of the yips and took to a new level with this pic man. The eyes are really what does it, especially with the big open mouthes.

This is exactly how I felt! I was just flipping through channels and I saw these guys again. One of the most terrifying things on TV. They chant like some sort of religious cult, too.

Naekim [2012-04-26 03:00:33 +0000 UTC]

I was afraid of them too. Then, My mother and father started randomly making the "Yip Yip" sound. Anywhere, anytime, no warning. As there were two of them, they sounded nearly identical to the puppets and would get into a loop where they wouldn't stop until one of them cracked and started laughing. It didn't take long for me to get over my fear.

So, thanks for reminding me of a happy memory I'd forgotten. ^.-
