Yep, Metroid is heavily inspired by Alien and its sequels. Not the biggest fan of Metroid though.

first game- condensed environment and first encounter with the "alien" creatures that latch onto you, the metroids. end of the game she escapes barely, in very little clothes if you beat it fast enough
metroid 2- samus goes to the metroid home planet to try and exterminate all of them (sound familiar to aliens?), both encounter the queen xenomorph and the queen metroid
super metroid- keyhunters have the ability to spit acid like the xenomorphs from the 3rd movie
metroid fusion- samus is given a cure made from the dna of her gotten from the baby metroid, which gives samus metroid like abilities. they also use the dna of the baby to make more metroids(use ripley's dna to make more xenomorphs) and the normal metroids dont attack samus in this game because she has part metroid dna, same for ripley

I played Metroid Prime as well. As for Alien, the only film I really saw was Predator 2 (Which had a Xenomorph skull in one scene meant to set up AVP
