Description I started working on this today. It feels the similar role as the Stryker and similar vehicles. It will likely not have any larger weapons, instead focusing on anti-personnel weapons. It will role with the Lancer IFV, which packs a larger offensive punch.
Crew of 2, with about 8-10 passengers...I think. I haven't done the math yet.

I'm not sure if there will be any variants, in the way that there are multiple variants of the Stryker.
Then again, I might include a larger turret to house a 25 0r 30 mm autocannon, which would make it similarly armed as the Lancer...just with more passengers.

It uses the same wheels as the Bushmaster, the smaller front wheels and I'm thinking that to save some work it might be built on the same chassis as well, though modified somewhat.

Started working on the different variants. The first one represent the standard LAV/APC. The second represents the turreted version, which supports a 30mm autocannon, and the third represents the mobile mortar version. There would likely be more version, though these are the only three I'm going to draw.

Updated: 12-17-12
Started working on the missile launcher variant. One launcher, various missiles.

Thanks. No, I don't have any stock pics of this tire, at least not this version of it. I do have an alternate color version in my gallery, though it's set against a background graphic and watermarked. [link]

The tweel wheel, is a real type of wheel being developed by several different company's in various forms. This is my version, designed to meet the needs of multiple fictional futuristic military vehicles.

Yeah. They're called tweel wheels and the actually exist, though I've designed my own version for use in many of my concepts: [link]

oh have you considered using twin 40mm grenade launchers

Jon-Michael-May In reply to Commander-Fillmore [2012-12-12 01:14:54 +0000 UTC]

There's already a grenade launcher mounted on the Remote Operated Weapons System.

hmmmm I'll let your know if I have anymore ideas
have you considered having a twin 4 pack TOW missile system variant

Jon-Michael-May In reply to Commander-Fillmore [2012-12-12 02:24:25 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I'd like to find a way to incorporate some sort of missile system, so that it's not a completely separate variant, but perhaps a bolt on kit that could be included on almost every variant....that way I don't have to draw an entirely separate vehicle. lol

Though looking online at some LAV's with TOW missile launchers, that idea might not work, unless it was a single launcher attached to the Remotely Operated Weapons System.

Another possibility might be to make an entire launcher, that fits in the same space as the mortar. When not needed, the launcher/turret retracts into the vehicle and then can 'pop up' so to speak, and be ready to engage targets. Like the mortar variant, it would lose passenger capabilities, but it might be worth doing. Additionally, instead of just making two separate versions for the mortar and missile launcher variants, one 'Heavy Weapon' variant could fill both roles, allowing a crew to switch out between the mortar or the missile turret prior to a mission.

great idea dude and I love the fact your thinking and I like the idea where one where there is a pop-up missile launchers but you will need potency in the system

Commander-Fillmore [2012-12-10 02:20:37 +0000 UTC]

sweet design but what I suggest is that you keep the wheels the same size and make a variant that houses twin 120mm mortars like the Dragon fire 2

Jon-Michael-May In reply to Commander-Fillmore [2012-12-10 18:23:17 +0000 UTC]

I think twin mortars would be overdoing it, and wouldn't actually fit inside the vehicle.

darn oh well I thought a twin mortar would work

I suggest changing the ride height and over all size specifically if you want to mount a 30mm cannon on it

Jon-Michael-May In reply to BTR90 [2012-12-10 18:26:15 +0000 UTC]

I'll work on the ride height, but I think the overall size is good as it is...at least for now, I don't see a need to change the size.

Jon-Michael-May In reply to BTR90 [2012-12-10 18:44:23 +0000 UTC]

Military vehicles usually are cramped, but maybe it could be a bit bigger. I guess it's better being too big, rather than too small.

BTR90 In reply to Jon-Michael-May [2012-12-10 18:51:42 +0000 UTC]

well its just that the new Stryker APC I saw at an airshow could let me a 5'8" man stand up with ease unless you do the soviet low profile designs for smaller targets, but the soldiers will have a harder time of it

Really. Most of the pics I've seen online make it look smaller on the inside. I'll take your word for it though. Bigger it is.
