My Wildstar headcanon:

"What that ahead, Tissy? Great Gears of Bezgelor t-the track's out, stop stop STOP!"
"It's an ambush! Engineer, reverse us out of here before they get to us!"
"C-chua can't! They have torn up tracks behind us, we trapped!"

The crew of the Dominion supply train #27 panic as the Exile raiders swarm their train, Human spellslingers firing at them while an Aurin esper summons giant spectral hammers and drills that wreak havoc on the old dinted steam engine, the boiler spewing steam as the drills pierce it. As if it senses the pain, the engines safety valves atop the boiler pop open in a deafening roar and leaning out from their place in the cab, the sheepish Chua engineer gasps in horror at the carnage before them, choosing to scurry down from their cab to flee rather than face death at the hands of the enemy.

Meanwhile the Cassian conductor, who have ridden ahead in the cab, descends down the steps while drawing his pistol in an attempt to fight off the attackers and at the same time the Chua stoker, enraged by the Exiles destroying their beloved engine, grabs a nearby wrench and with a defying yell storms out the cab along the running boards to beat the Aurin to dust with it.
Unfortunatly they fail to reach their goal as another Human spellslinger spotted them and fires off a well-aimed shot that hits the Chua mid-air. The other train crew in the caboose are already dead or have all fled.

Realistically, railroad crews stand little chance against the violent attacks as the Exiles destroy the tracks ahead and behind the train, trapping it and its crew who have little or no means to defend themselves. The ultimate goal of the Exiles is to destroy the train and take its loot in order to prevent the resupply of the Dominion forces combating them.
