Will Smith as kind of in a tricky spot here. He's actually admitted he was afraid to play the Genie and if they didn't have the character be big and blue that would cause an uproar of its own.
Really it was a damned if you do, damned if you don't kind of scenario to me.
That being said I liked what they did in the second trailer and it appears he's working to make the role his own.

I have to agree, the second trailer has gotten be excited for the movie.

I'd have to agree. It's a different sort of Genie but it might just work out as well... but what'll really make or break the movie is Jafar (and possibly Iago), and thus far... not convinced. It's difficult to live up to the original. Still, I might give it a looksee.

Am agree. Jafar is one of the greatest Disney Villains ever, up there with Captain Hook, Maleficent, Ursula, Hades, Cruella, Dr Facilier, Frollo, Gaston, etc. At the moment, they really seemed to have downgraded him.
