"Sagittaron is considered a relatively barren planet by the other colonies. Large oceans only give way to rocky, mountainous continents whose terrain are carved with deep valleys. It is within these valley regions much of the Sagitarrion population centers are located. Originally colonized by fundamentalist Gemenese who felt the liberalization of their culture was an abhorrent affront to the sacred texts, Sagittaron endured centuries of exploitation by the Leonis and Virgonian imperial powers. It wasn't until the two waring nations drove each other to collapse that Sagittaron emerged as a power in it's own right. Staunchly opposed to modern medicine the Sagittarion are often regarded as a backward society, choosing to put their faith in folk medicine over proven science. This led to an culture of racism towards the Sagittarion, an issue only compounded by their objection to military service. Terrorist Tom Zarek was a Sagittaron national who was likely radicalized by such racism. However, many believe he used Sagittaron's fervent religious ideology and independence to ferment unrest against what he viewed as a corrupt political system.

Notable locations on Sagittaron include the Acheron River - the largest river among the twelve colonies and visible from space - and the capitol city of Tawa, whose temples are Sagittaron's main tourist attraction."

Second in a possible series of images depicting the colonies of man before the Cylon invasion. The base of the planet was created using Space Engine, then heavily manipulated in Photoshop. Nebula stock thanks to the amazing Ali Reis. Mostly just having fun focusing making planets and refining those skills, sans any spaceships. I'll likely re-use these as backgrounds before long, though.
