I said I might make a series on this, and I have. BC referring to Before Chomper.
So, in this scenario, mammals, bugs etc. are now hard to come by thanks to this... Dust Bowl ruining the land around them. Jane and Stan come across a promising feast... Guarded by an older member of their kind, THE original Sharptooth to be exact. Clearly not strong against a Bruiser of this caliber, they decide to be smart. With speed and strategy, Jane makes the first turn in distracting the beast. Stan waits in the long grass until the coast is clear. And when he does, he must scarf down as much as possible before it's his turn. Likewise, Jane has to play this right; run too far, and the Sharptooth would give up and return to his quarry. Too close and going through the night hungry is the least the two should worry about.
The biggest challenge for me is to make the Original Sharptooth distinguishing from Stan in broad daylight. So I looked up animation cels and found him to be more of a brown color (yet still distinguishing from Jane's color scheme) than the stylized green shown on his model sheet or in many scenes of the original film. As for a name, I'd rather leave it be and say that this hit and run would never give them a chance. Besides, though there are names for other specimens (including, yes, Black Beauty), none seemed to fit him.

This looks good, It fits quite nice with the Don Bluth style. Also this scenario reminds me of 20th century retro paleoart like ones made from Charles R. Knight or Zdeněk Burian.
