So these are the pencils that I did for the Sonic the Hedgehog 222 frontispiece. I decided to upload the process in different stages so those who were interested could see how it's done.

The current Sonic editor, Paul Kaminski, knew what kind of scene he wanted to depict (Sonic and Sally in a romantic scene by the Lake of Rings) so I decided to go with that based off of Paul's idea.

Basically, I drew this scene out on 11x17 bristol board using a mechanical pencil with 2H lead (most people use a softer lead, but i tend to draw heavy so that lead forces me to use a lighter hand). Sometimes I add in shading for the inks, but this time I just did X marks to denote black spaces. From there it was sent to Terry Austin for inking.
