Description
Β©2010 Jon HodgsonAn elf settlement for The One Ring from Cubicle 7 and Sophisticated Games.
"Silvan Elves are not often seen outside of their woodland kingdom. In their attempt to preserve its beauty, they turned the forestβs shadowy canopy and its green glades into a fortified sanctuary, where they struggle to hold the Shadow at bay."

Groovy, I like how your version has escaped from the overwhelming influence of Howe/Lee to something more akin to the 70's versions of Hobbit/LOTR that appeared in animated form, but with a modern touch.

Yay! You are doing the artwork? I was going to get the game anyway, but have more of a reason now! Absolutely fantastic.

Amazing use of colors and light. I like limited palette art, and this is a really cool example of that.

Very nice, I disagree on how people say its wholly Tolkien though, this has something more in it than that, it has an essential essence that only the artist could create.
Well done, this is a very sublime piece.

That's so...
...Tolkien!
Beautiful, serene colours and tranquil light, especially glowing through the trees at the top.

How long have you been drawing/painting?
And, how long did it take to paint this?

All of your One Ring pieces have been stellar! This one is so beautiful! It is extremely exciting to see the fruit of all your labors from the past couple years finally seeing the light of day. The One Ring seemed to be well received at Gen Con. There were always many people checking it out when I walked by. Gorgeous work!

Hey thanks Christopher, that's really kind of you to say. It has been overwhelming how well it has all been received, because naturally when you work on something you have a deep personal connection to, and you really do the best you can do... it getting a crappy review is going to really hurt. There's nothing to hide behind. And heck, fans of certain properties are more committed than others, let's say!
So it's been a *huge* relief that almost all responses have been positive!

I know it might be a secret of the trade, but I will try my luck anyway - how did you achieve the effect of paint thickness? It looks amazing! Wonderful job!
