I made my first Jake last summer - back in July- They originated from the same pattern I designed for my sushi dogs, you can see both the prototypes in this photo First Jake
I even made a Finn and Gunther too
I have seen others that use the same shape/style as me- cant say if they copied my shape or not. All I know is, I made this pattern/style myself of my own creation...

If it helps, I don't make them to sell really. It was sort of a one-shot thing. Something I mostly wanted for myself, but people wanted to buy some so I didn't mind making a few.

*shrug* people emulate others often.I did get a lot of inspiration from yours as well as another chibi plush of Jake. I thought they were cute, so since I'm a seamstress, I decided to make one for myself and sold a few others. I make my living as a seamstress and I've had others take some of my ideas from my MLP plushies before, as well.
Chances are, you weren't the first to adapt that pattern to begin with. You probably got your ideas from other sources, too. Not saying your work is copying anyone specifically, but that's where ideas come from; other people.

I know I made the sushi dog/jake pattern from scratch in my work room (with math and paper towels lol). It is a basic pattern though. Kinda hard to be original with patterns when there are only so many geometric shapes to work with. So I understand what your saying there.
Cant really be upset in the event that someone copies something that isn't yours anyways( Jake really belongs to Pendleton Ward and Cartoon Network, not me or anyone else)
Inspiration does comes from everything all the time- I was inspired to make Jake from Adventure time- because its epic!!! Also I was watching it when I was making the sushi dogs... lol

Oh no, I have no doubt that you made your pattern yourself. What I meant was we all get inspiration from somewhere. I admit I used your work as inspiration, but had no intention of selling them in mass. As I said, it was mostly for myself and I made only a few extras.
Yeah, it happens a lot with MLP plushies; we all sort of learn from each other ^_^U
