No contest, the most popular card game was poker. For about a week after payday, many a poker game was broken up to go eat breakfast. It took just about a week for the available money (most of it was going home in allotments) to end up in a few hands, and sent home. After that bridge and pinochle were popular. As a last resort when there was no money and you couldn't come up with a foursome, there was always the old stand-by solitaire.Related content
