Description First trip and play with my 8mm Fisheye lens
Had a real mixed bag of results this day, there`s no Auto Focus and the Manual I found is quite subtle and you don`t need to be far off to get a non-crisp shot, but It`ll be a permanent feature in my cam bag and I`ll really enjoy playing with it on my City trips.

Dedicated to my special girl who treated me to this toy for Xmas Thank you Obich Moya

Thank you for checking this one out

Truly lovely! I love the feel to this. It feels like a movie clip. Love the tones and fisheye to this. I love the view out the window! Great work, wonderful perspective.

Is it symilar to the Nikon fisheye? I had the oportunity to try it on skate competitions and the focus was more or less the same as you discribe it.
Set it to infinite and start shooting! no more worries!

Good picture!

Gracias my friend,I`m a Canon user so can`t draw on any Nikon experience to compare for you but I`ll test out your theory

VisualBreak In reply to JonnyGoodboy [2010-01-21 15:50:44 +0000 UTC]

I hope I'm not wrong and it works the same as the Nikon one.

By the way congratulate your girlfriend for such a good present!
I've been looking at some reviews and she got you a good lens!

I wanted one too (for Nikon) but they are too expensive for my budgetsdo I had to buy a "fisheye" lens for a skate comission.
The quality is shit but the guy din't mind!

Cheers!

Thank you Karen, takes a bit of getting used to and manoeuvring to whip the best out of it I think, got about a dozen shots so far where my own elbow has crept into the shot and I never noticed

Nice one. I treated myself to a 8mm fisheye with xmas money. I love it to bits. Its also fully manual but i find as long as you stop it down a bit the focus isn't too critical. I took a shot of a 12" ruler with one end touching the lens hood & the full 300mm were in reasonably sharp focus. How good is that Even the background at the other side of the room was in focus.. Hours of fun with a fisheye

Which one did you buy?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GaryTaffinder In reply to JonnyGoodboy [2010-01-21 18:04:22 +0000 UTC]

I bought a falcon f3.5 It was brand new & guarenteed 180 degree field of view & no vignetting (rectangular image) For the price tag of Β£180 i was really pleased with the results. Made by the company which were VIVITAR or so they say, so should be decent quality ! There are plenty of shots posted in my gallery taken with it if you want a browse

You know I think they are practically the exact same lens just parading under a different brand, they even co$t the same

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GaryTaffinder In reply to JonnyGoodboy [2010-01-21 19:52:56 +0000 UTC]

There's absolutely no electrics on it at all which is why you dont get any info about aperture or lens size. Did you get it from ebay ?
