So far, I'm very happy with the D7000. I still have a lot to learn about how to use it though. When I shoot with Auto-ISO on I typically set it to 1,600 max, but the camera seems to like keeping it on max a bit too much.
I'll probably set the max a bit lower if I can ever get a Vibration Reduction macro lens.

Hehe,i have d300s and i think i dont have something like Aut-ISO.i don't like auto-setups.I like when i have full control with picture
Yours close-shots are very cool,but if You think about macro (1:1)better think about lamp also

I know what you mean. I'm always shooting in Manual Mode, but lately I've used Auto-ISO to help with shots where I don't have time to set the ISO. I haven't set up, or changed the lighting in any way, in any of my shots (so far), so using Auto-ISO has been very helpful. I can always change the maximum ISO the camera uses, so I do still have some control over it.
I agree with you though. I've only been using DSLRs for a little over six months now, and I still have a lot to learn about lighting. Once I save up some cash, I can get a better lighting/studio-style setup, I'm sure my macro work will improve even more.
