personally I really like the juxtaposition of an in-focus flower with an almost identical out-of-focus flower, it's a pretty unique concept. However, if this was really your goal, and you saw the two flowers as equally important to your photo, I would have tried to compose more symmetrically -- and remove over petals from the frame. Cool photo nevertheless! Might just use it as an inspiration someday

Thank you! I do like the blurring, and I wish I could remove the petals, they were frustrating me so much but I have no idea how to do it :')

well if you have photoshop or something similar I recommend playing around with the cloning stamp and the healing tool. However in this particular case the easiest thing to do would have probably been to somehow move the other flowers out of the frame with your hands

I think there's too much going on in the frame:
The flowers look squeezed into it because there's hardly any contrasting background. You've increased the contrast that the white becomes smudged and the subjects don't stand out anymore because they stick together as one white overlapping bunch . They're also out of focus while a small piece is sharp on the top of the frame, but could be cloned out (you can't crop it).
You could try a different angle and mind some contrast in the background to your subject.

Thank you, I appreciate the in-depth criticism! I would like to get rid of those stray sharp petals at the top but I'm not sure how? I'll keep all of this in mind next time I try and take a similar photo

It's my pleasure.
I don't know what software you use for post processing, but you can clone it out in open source software like Gimp.Β
It's advice. Take it, or leave it. No problem.

I quite like how you have done this, Your focus on the flower behind is great, the flower to the fore keeps trying to steal the limelight though, but manages to remain slightly mysterious.Β
The darker bachground adds a good amount of contrast overall to the picture, stopping the eye straying too far from the subject.

i think this is a nice picture... it is just irritating that you set the focus on the blossom in the background... the blurry one in the front is still so dominant that your eyey allways try to hop back and forth....Β
but the shading from dark to white is really niceΒ

Thank you for the critique, I appreciate your comments! I understand where you're coming from, but I personally like the effect, I think the blurring is quite pretty π

I do not mind blurr... i mean it may look diffrent when it would be the blossom in the back...
but anyway the most importants is that you like it yourself... and it is still a very beautiful shoot ^^Β
