Looks like a blotched tabby, which is a rather common appearance among kitties (this guy looks a lot like my brother's cat, Shogun). The focus is put to effective use here; very nice shot.

I am not sure about that, I think it is a kind of mix of the european shorthair, pixie bob... (and perhaps also a blotched tabby, who knows hehe

Well, shorthairs and bobs are breeds, whereas tabby is a coat pattern... so you could have several different breeds of cats that are still tabbies (maine coons, persians, siamese, etc.). Tabbies usually end up with a marking on the forehead that looks like the letter M. So because it's a coat pattern that spans different breeds, you see it a lot.
But yes, it's a good shot. ^^
