That duel was quick, however i think it was perfect, no unnecessary flips, just three moves and it all ended. Maul dying in Obi-Wan's hands was so sad, it surprised meRelated content

The chest cut seemed so shallow though, but I guess he was already under enough trauma and stress and knowing he couldn't win essentially defeated him mentally and spiritually after this wound so he let himself die.

Beaten in two moves by the simplest trick: Obi-Wan made Maul think that he was going to use the same form as Qui-Gon and then changed forms between blows. Maul was acting on autopilot and missed it!

OMFG, you just blew my mind with your tittle, I forgot that Quigon and Maul first duel was in Tatooine, and was also first time Obi wan saw him.
Not to mention where they took Anakin from, as Luke was about to be taken.

I still can't believe he died so quickly. Maul was my favorite Sith, and I was hoping he'd leave his mark in the Galaxy before his time came.
But, at least he was briefly redeemed before he died in Obi-Wan's arms.

Well he kind of made his mark, comparing with the rest of side characters, he was the ruler of Mandalore, killed a Jedi Master, among other things.
But yes it is sad to see him gone, was also my favorite Sith, but I loved how he ended.

I guess I can agree to that. But I wanted more for him, like a partial thought of mine was, maybe Maul was the first Knight of Ren. Even if that may have been a long shot, more would've been cool.

I understand that many had expected a long and intense duel, I was surprised too with this execution samurai style, but I believe that a prolonged fighting wouldn't have served the purpose of the plot: Maul at that point, albeit unknowingly, had virtually stopped hating Kenobi and in his heart sought the peace he had never had.
It's beautiful the analysis made by some, that the Twin Suns symbolically represent Obi-Wan and Maul: despite the bitter rivalry in the end the two are pawns in Sidious's cruel game, two victims. Obi-Wan doesn't feel hatred for Maul and Maul too eventually forgives him. Both have stolen something important to each other.
Note how Maul try to reach Obi's shoulder as he asks about the Chosen One, and the latter close his eyes as a sign of respect.

In TCW "The Lawless" Maul told Obi-Wan that he didn't want to kill him. And I also thought immediately even before I saw that episode, that Twin Suns meant Obi-Wan and Maul. And ... look into Maul's eyes in the last moment. Twin Suns too. Well done picture!

Yeah, Maul dying in Kenobi's arms was the first time I really felt sympathy for him in a character way, and not simply because he looks and fights cool.

Excellent rendering and the episode was great. Kenobi lured Maul into the attack by taking the same stance Qui-Gon Jinn had. This led Maul to use the same attack he used on Jinn and Kenobi was ready for him.

Before the fight even started, I honestly said aloud. "C'mon, guys you're in your 50's."
I covered my mouth and gasped when Maul fell into Obi-wan's arms, I hadn't expected it go that way. But at least now, he can rest peacefully.
