This is one of my final pieces for advanced higher art, really need to get round to uploading more work!

Basically, the concept of this was this whole idea of humans clinging onto time; our lives literally revolve around dates and deadlines, but I wanted to also depict time for what it really is - an intangible and uncontrollable entity. I thought it'd be interesting to subvert this 'human' characteristic of holding onto time, by presenting a zebra climbing the tree instead. I chose a zebra after seeing the band 30 Seconds To Mars' single cover for 'Up In The Air' - I really liked the black and white of the zebra, against the very blue background. And of course, I feel any surrealistic painting that thematically explores time needs some sort of reference to the great Salvador Dali, hence the melting clocks.
