Origins: Gojira was just a normal dinosaur in the beginning. Or at least, as normal as a dinosaur of his species could be. His kind had developed a means of sustaining their lifespans far longer than anything else on the planet. The dinosaur that ultimately became Gojira had gone into hibernation around 180 million years ago and had remained asleep until the year 1954.

When the Castle Bravo tests were implemented, the area that had become the Bikini Atoll had been Gojira's home. Now it was being used as a testing site for Japan's first nuclear weapons ever made. The humans of Japan were unaware of Gojira's existence when they tested their first nuclear bomb. The result? In 1954, the monster that came to be called Gojira was created.

He emerged from the depths of the ocean to find his once beautiful home a smoldering, burning ruin. It looked like Hell on Earth. Nothing could describe the horror, pain, grief, and despair when he saw what had happened to his home. Then he saw the human ships leaving. Having come to the conclusion that the beings on the ships were responsible, Gojira set out to get his revenge.

He soon discovered that while he did indeed survive, he had been changed. He had already been very large, even compared to other predators on land and in the water. But this, this was something else for Gojira. He was far larger than he should have been. His arms had grown enormous in girth and length. His fat reserves were gone, replaced with absurd amounts of muscle. His scales had been warped and changed beyond recognition. Gone were the smooth, perfect scales that covered his body. They were the thing that made him so handsome, so perfect in the eyes of his mate. Now, all that stood in place of the perfect predator was a warped and mutated abomination! His tail, though already long, was even longer now.

When he looked at his reflection in a stagnant puddle of water, Gojira saw for the first time how horrifying he'd truly become. The saddest part was that it was through no fault of his own.

When he howled in rage and despair, he discovered his breath weapon for the first time. He was surprised by that. That would certainly help. At least his hideous transformation gave him new abilities he could use to his advantage.

His decision made, Gojira set out to find the home of the creatures that destroyed all he knew and loved. They took everything from him. Now he was going to take everything from them.

In his search, Gojira found more ships. Though they weren't anything like the ships he'd seen leaving his island home in ruins, Gojira didn't care. These tiny creatures were all the same. Greedy. Selfish. Destructive. That was all they were and there was no place for them to exist. They had no right to live anywhere.

He sank ship after ship, wanting the tiny miserable beasts to suffer. No one would escape from him. Gojira eventually made his way to Odo Island, where he came on land once more. This time, he would feast on whatever silly prey animals he could find. He found a few odd beasts that stood on all fours, but had no scales like the beasts of his old world. They looked frail and feeble, but there were a lot of them so they would satisfy his hunger. And so he feasted.

However, he heard a strange sound coming from his right. It was very slight. He almost didn't notice it. Gojira turned to see where it came from. He saw the strangest of creatures. They were even smaller than the beasts he'd devoured for food and they stood on two legs. They also had no scales! What was wrong with this world?! What had he woken up to?! What was this nightmare?!

Apparently, the tiny bipeds were actually terrified of him once they saw him. He approached one of them and sniffed them. Then it hit him. These tiny bipedal creatures were humans! He remembered the stench that stained the air of his old home over the wretched scent of the smoke and flames. These may not have been the ones responsible, but Gojira didn't care. They were part of the species that took everything from him. He was not going to let them get away.

He smashed one of them on the hill in front of him, then roared as the others fled in terror. He followed, wanting them to feel ever greater fear as he got closer. When Gojira came over the hill, he found hundreds of humans, all armed and apparently having been planning to attack him. But their feeble weapons would do nothing to him. Gojira charged at the humans, forcing them flee back into their homes. They would think they were safe, only to discover that nothing was safe from Gojira. As night fell, a storm approached and Gojira made his move. He stormed into the tiny village and crushed the houses beneath his gigantic feet.

He would send a message, one the humans would never forget. He knew their crimes and he was going to burn them all. They would be humbled and their world was going to fall. He cared not how long it would take. He would succeed and take back the planet. If these humans thought themselves alphas among alphas, they were dead wrong.

The damage done, he fled back into the shadows, beneath the waves. If any of the surviving humans left the island, he was going to follow them to their destination and he was going to tear it all down.

In the following weeks, Gojira made his way to Japan, where he proceeded to topple their mighty towers, cripple their greatest weapons, and generally slaughter them in his fury. The humans tried to fight him, but none of their weapons had any effect on him. As a display of his own power, Gojira unleashed his Atomic Breath and vaporized the opposition before him.

Countless humans fled in terror before him, knowing they could never hope to defeat him. But Gojira wasn't done. Even as the humans attempted to flee, he still went after them. He blasted some of them with his Atomic Breath, others he crushed beneath his feet or he simply knocked the structures down on top of them, reducing them to red, gooey paste.

The humans soon started attacking him from the air in their little machines. Their efforts were in vain. Gojira turned his Atomic Breath on them and shot them down. Then he decided to leave, though he still wasn't finished. Still, he'd managed to leave completely half of the city known as Tokyo in a smoldering ocean of fire and death.

A few days later, Gojira was visited at the bottom of the ocean by two humans. They even had the audacity to pursue him underwater! Blasphemy! One of the humans was holding a very strange device. It didn't take long for Gojira to realize that this was a last-ditch effort by the humans to kill him. The device was activated and Gojira felt some kind of energy tearing away at his body. To Gojira's horror, this was the only thing that could hurt him! Gojira blasted the human using the device with his Atomic Breath, destroying both him and his unusual weapon. In the end, Gojira survived, but his hatred of humanity had been cemented.

Now he would never stop attacking them. He decided he wouldn't wipe them out, but simply make them suffer. He would never stop making them pay for what they did.

However, when he returned to continue his assault on humanity, he ran into another monster. This was Anguirus. Gojira had never met this monster in his life, but his confusion gave way to anger when the other monster picked a fight with him. Gojira was furious. He attacked the insolent beast with untold righteous fury. The two monsters battled for days on end, but in the end, Gojira emerged victorious. Anguirus had survived, but was in so much pain he couldn't move.

Over the next 60 years, Gojira found himself doing battle with more and more monsters, both from Earth and from beyond the stars. But it didn't matter. He toppled them all in countless duels and ultimately earned the title "The King of the Monsters".

However, at the same time, Gojira had discovered a lot about the humans. As it turned out, the day his home had been destroyed, the humans weren't even trying to find him. They were simply testing a weapon to use against one another. His mutation had been a freak accident on their part. He was quite surprised to find that the humans were rapidly growing in their awareness of the destruction they caused and were trying to save their own planet from themselves. Of course, there were always some humans who only cared for personal gain, no matter who or what got in the way.

What shocked Gojira even more was that there were even humans who actually liked him. He learned that he was a mutated version of what the humans called a dinosaur and there countless children among the humans who loved dinosaurs just because of what they were. Gojira felt his hatred beginning to fall away. How could he have been so foolish?! He had to rethink his stance on humanity. It was wrong of him to attack everyone just for the crimes of just a few individuals. If he could shed tears of grief and guilt, he would, but he couldn't, though the emotions were real.

Then, one day, Gojira was greeted with one incredible surprise. One of his children had been found by the humans. Thankfully the ones who found him had no desire to hurt the hatchling.
