I've seen it happen; ever see Star Trek Voyager? This one time, two characters from that show, Tuvok and Neelix, were fused in a similar accident, and out came Tuvix. It wasn't pretty.

It actually happened to the Rangers in one episode of their show, by using a teleporter that works with any phone (you teleport wherever you make the call).
