A photo-realistic rendering of Motoko Kusanagi, as portrayed in the Ghost in the Shell film. It shoud be noted, for reference for this painting I used an image of the actress who played Ash in Mamoru Oshii's film, "Avalon". This woman bares an increadible likeness to the Major, which is probably why Oshii cast her for his film.Related content

Great work and an amazing idea.
Actually, from the first time I watched "Avalon" I was under the impression that Ash was made to look like Major, but similarities don't stop there, there are some shared characteristics between those 2 characters, like life of solitude, toughness but also fragility deep within.

The actress you're speaking of is called MaΕgorzata Foremniak. She did really resemble The Major in that particular role, but tbh on normal conditions I would never think about it that way.

Well, from what I heard, Oshii actually went in and did some digital work on certain scenes to make her look even more like Kusanagi...and I believe that was a wig she was wearing. But she did look like Kusanagi. And Avalon is an amazing film. Glad to find another fan of it!

Absolutely, I definately would like to work with you sometime. Frankly, if I ever get the chance to actually *write* something for DC, you'd be the first artist I want to work with. My dream? A Powergirl / Mr. Terrific story. Seriously.
