Looks really good. OTher than the numbers, the only other thing I noticed is that the large black stripe of the front looks like it's floating in from of the train just a hare. Also, what's the shadow on the fuel tank supposed to be (looks kinda like a bat.) Otherwise it looks really great, I like the dark industrial backround as a setting, it really sets off the color on the train.
I wonder what it would look like with a little bit or brown/orange rust on the side (only the top gets shiny) on the one rail the train is on?

Thanks for the comment
THe shadow on the fuel tank is actually being cast by a step thats attactched to it. look carefully and you will see it. The shadow is just long and weird because of the bright keylight from behind.
The large black stripe is actually a bit of metal attacted to the train not a painted stripe. Granted it isnt very well done because you can't see highlights or anything.
Thanks again for your comment

an EMD F40 I'm guessing? If it is, the nose is a little too rounded, but i really shouldn't critic this because i counldn't even do this if i had to save mine and my families lives
awesome work here, i like the industrial scenery you have built around it +fav!

Noice work, dude. It took me a while to figure out whether it was a CG model or a toy model. Good work. Still kinda clean to be real, though.

I just did not state the obvious that his work was great...that would be boring now.
*Sigh* If you saw Joshs previous train, which is currently his featured deviation, you would not only know already but agree that his previous was very detailed and awed a lot of people. Don't get me wrong though...This flying school bus has it all. I just thought the choice of train design would have been better...for the sake of a better looking wallpaper. heh

I have to applaud you for coming so far...with the lighting that is. The train design could be better. I did not draw to that as much as I did with Choo choo train. Otherwise, with good texturing and photoshop work, The wallpaper stands out a lot and would impress even the pro's. Job well done Josh.

Great stuff, the little grimy touches really add to the older pic.
~kyvek is right though, about the blurry '129' , it does stand out in such an otherwise realistic render.
How did you model the main shape? 3d bezeir (sp?) and then boolean windows?
P.S. for some reason I just love that little puff of smoke on the back wheels

Yea, this is definitely an improvement. Looks a lot better...you're gettin there!
Just noticed, though, that the 129 on the side of the train looks fuzzzy. If you did that in lightwave, than maybe try doing it in photoshop, and if you did do it in photoshop, than I'd do it again lol. Just doesn't look like it sits there right IMO. Also, the material on the actual rails the train is riding on looks painted, and brand new, when they probably should be worn down stainless steel, ya?
It looks boodiful man, jus a few more details and it'll be perfect.
BTW I like the reflections you threw in on the walls of the tunnel....didn't notice them before, so I think they are new to this update

joshcxa In reply to kyvek [2004-01-01 10:53:55 +0000 UTC]
thanx for the comment...
the reflections on the wall were a new addition, they're supposed to be windows.
as for the 129, that was done in photoshop and i probably could have done them sharper if i stenciled them in useing lightwave...damn i'm lazy. The reason its fuzzy is because the surface i whipped up in photoshop isn't big enough so it streched, hence the fuzziness.
anyway, thanx again!
