Description Taken at a Buddhist stupa. Nepal.

In Buddhism, like many religions, the burning of oils and incense represents the rising of prayers and thought to that which is more important than oneself, realizing that the value of living for others far outweighs the value of living for oneself in a hedonistic sense. To many religious observers, the smoke and scent that rises symbolizes, among other things, that simple act of giving, as opposed to the more common, tempting, and ultimately destructive habit of taking.
