I think at one point Kastoway randomly made a spoof video with Toby , Jeff , and Clockwork where Toby has a full plate of waffles . Even though this clearly wasnβt meant to be a reflection of how Toby is actually supposed to be and was made for fun , some fans mostly portrayed him in this way usually instead of him being a serious character like he was meant to be .

Same here . Toby is supposed to be a pretty dark and tragic character. He doesnβt have any reasons to be happy and hyper . I think David Nearβs Ticci Toby videos are a perfect representation of how Toby should be portrayed

Agree with you.Β I remember his true character - he is ill, he is not at all laughing. But for some reason a lot of people decided that he should become a fool and sometimes it annoys me with the kind of comedian he is put on display. I think the new Π‘reepypasta fans think that he was so funny always. Sadly, of course, because he is just still a hidden psycho.

Tbh I come with alternative versions of characters and I think thatβs fine and honestly you have the free will to portray a character a certain way , but to me the reason I have a problem with how Toby is mostly portrayed by the fandom is that the thing they think of or first usually see is involving Toby annoying Masky and eating waffles . Thatβs literally like the first thing most people think of when they think of Toby now ( I was even introduced to Toby in that way too ) and it is not how Toby actually is . He is very much different then how most of the fandom has portrayed him .

Okay...I gotta admit here, I always usually portrayed Toby as a very torn character who is unable to control himself, either due to his own deranged mental state or Slenderman's influence, or both. Because of that, I kinda wrote him as more tragic and having to deal with two different personas. So yeah...in a way he's not a particularly badass character, but more of a sympathetic one.
Buuuuut.....I would NEVER make him a hyperactive, waffle obsessed man-child that keeps going "Hey Masky, Hey Masky.." XDDDDDDD
