Porygon was the first true A.I system created by humanity.

Originally designed by Silph.co, they aimed to develop a device that allowed Pokemon to train against an artificial opponent. They created the Porygon.1. Known at the time as the Artificial Pokemon Battle System or A.P.B.S.

It was a holographic 'hard light' battle system. State of the art for the time. Combining force-field technology with holographic effects, essentially creating a self-sustaining, solid projection.
In the center of the hologram was a condensed supercomputer with miniature projectors, force-field amplifiers, and anti-gravitational thrusters.

Then, in an open-air battle, the Porygon broke the tracking beacon that usually wouldn't allow it to travel any further than 50 meters and escaped. Disappearing of Silph.co's sensors.

They tracked it using high-frequency radio waves, and eventually found it in an abandoned scrapping yard near to the city. While programming it they made sure that the Porygon could be held inside a Pokeball, just like a real Pokemon. They eventually caught the Porygon but soon realized that they were too late as four smaller Porygon, flew away into the Junk.

Ten years after the first Porygon was created, it was officially declared a Pokemon and was legally allowed to be captured by trainers and used in official battles. Porygon are still incredibly rare but can be found in cities, data farms or anywhere with a lot of metal.

Since then, upgrades have been created by humanity to evolve Porygon, boosting its graphics matrix and strength capabilities. Many of which were created and perfected by Bill, by studying the first Porygon, his loyal companion and friend he named ‘Eve’.
