Description

Voltorb are extremely dangerous artificial Pokemon. A remnant of the old war, it was designed to be, essentially, a living bomb. They wanted to create a weapon that could move and think its way into secure locations. Once at its target, it creates a powerful electromagnetic detonation that leaves a wake of destruction. The Voltorb, undamaged due to its thick metal shell, can leave the area intact. It was the perfect weapon.
They made two fundamental mistakes. The first was giving it the ability to build more of itself through the consumption of scrap metal. Their reasoning was to sneak a single drone into enemy territory and let it create more of itself once inside, eventually doing more damage. The second was giving it a powerful AI.
At first they worked a dream, but slowly they began to lose more and more Voltorb in the field until it became obvious that they had begun to reproduce in the wild... Years later they were officially inducted as a Pokemon and people began to capture and train them for battle.
