Artist’s commentary: Here’s James…
The bright red mixed traffic mogul is here. Like Gordon, James was a bit of a challenge to do, but I managed to complete him. As usual I went and painted the details and lining, but this isn’t all. I moved the wheel arches back a bit for added accuracy as well as fixing up the lining on the cab. The frames were also painted as well as being extended for accuracy. I added the handrails to the boiler and firebox and his unique whistle. The tender is the same one I used for Edward as they both use Fowler/Hatt tenders, so I guess they might use the same tooling, but maybe not Gordon's because he has a bigger tender with slight alterations compared to Edward and James.
Honestly I really had a lot of fun restoring James. I love his bright scarlet red livery which the model emulated perfectly. This makes him one of my favourite ERTL models. Next is Percy whom will be out soon.
