Artist’s commentary: Next up is Percy, our favourite hybrid saddle tank engine and Thomas’s best friend.
This is probably my favourite restored model so far cause of how accurate he now is to the show. The smokebox extended way too far at the front so I scaled it down and created that gap between the sandboxes that he has in the tv series as well as painting his main frame. I also extended the saddle tank further down to the bottom like how it is in the early Railway Series books and the show as well as adding the lining and painting the valve gear and stepladder (which has been moved down underneath the running board rather than on it).
That’s all for today, originally I wasn’t gonna do Toby because his ERTL model looks pretty accurate and there’s not really much to improve with him, but since I’ve decided to edit the whole ERTL library, what’s stopping me from restoring the tram? And so he’s coming up next.
