Well, my take is that for her, being able to throw off the chains of restraint is a form of victory and liberation.
Phyllis would rather not have someone else tell her how not to save her life, especially when it is her finger on the trigger and her eye on the sights.
This character is also as a way of poking fun at cats

Well, in the comic I plan, she's no stranger to it, and she's always prepared to risk all.
However, miraculously, the lashings she expects to get due to her conduct almost always never seem to come. And if she does indeed gets court-martialed, she always gets off scot-free. The testimony against her is often very weak. Officers cannot speak a word against her. Her actions in the combat zone seem to be anointed, her decisions in the battlefield seem to be the most rational ones to make, and she knows it. 
She's somehow protected, is all i can say.

Oh, just a resentment I feel towards folks in charge and in control of the flow of large amounts of money. I get that every once in a while. I felt like giving them all the finger yesterday in particular.
